Senior Call Tree
COVID-19 brought change and challenges to our Senior community. The isolation and uncertainty of home quarantine weighs heavily on our community and Federation staff, board members and volunteers are quick to take sustained action.
We make weekly calls to hundreds of seniors and members of the community. Many are calls for assistance with the most basic needs, but many are calls to offer assurance and kindness. We’ve created an effective Call Tree program to stay in touch with every person who attends programs such as the Senior Hot Lunch and others.
Whether our senior community needs help setting up Zoom, buying and delivering food or just need to talk, the Federation is there.
Kosher Hot Lunch Program
The Senior Kosher Hot Lunch program connects Jewish seniors with other older adults and their Jewish roots. We integrate crafts, music and cooking to bring about a wonderful environment of Yiddishkeit.
Highlights of the Hot Lunch program include celebrating Senior Appreciation Day with a gift bag of goodies; Purim festivities baking hamentashen; Potting plants at the first sight of Springtime; and regular Bingo and Yiddish Lotto to bring smiles and joy to everyone.
Seniors have a busy schedule here at the Federation. There is always something fun going on. Through innovative programming and activities, our Seniors feel a sense of joy, camaraderie and fulfillment on a weekly basis.
Our Get on the Bus Seniors! series is always popular. Participants travel to the Ivoryton Playhouse for great live entertainment and plays. And The Maven, our publication for seniors is a great read!
Outdoors at Noon
Our calendar of outdoors programs provides fun events for seniors of all ages. Kosher Hot Lunches are not currently available, but you’ll enjoy a tasty meal outdoors. Unless otherwise noted, all outdoor events are held at the Rotary Pavilion at Ocean Beach. All events are free.
