Why ‘People of the Book’: Reading and Writing as Jews

Dr. Faye Ringel, Professor Emerita of Humanities, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, will kick off Temple Bnai Israel’s Zoom series of cultural programs “People of the Book” with a look at Jews as creators and consumers of literature, especially secular fiction and poetry, from ancient times to the present. How have Jews interacted with the non-Jewish literary cultures in which we have found ourselves? Questions encouraged, all are invited.
