The Jewish Monster Manual

From the larger-than-life Leviathan to the smaller-than-small Shamir, Olivia Devorah Tucker introduces us to a magical menagerie from Jewish Lore! What can our legendary creatures teach us about ancestral imagination? How can we see and utilize these fantasies in our lives?

Olivia Devorah Tucker (they/them) is your average Transfemme Jewish Demonologist, focused on resurfacing and making accessible the fascinating connections to magical and supernatural wisdom found in the Talmud and beyond. They graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016 with a Jewish Studies Certificate, and in their time as Executive Assistant to The Rabbinic Office of Rodef Shalom, Olivia researched and taught classes on Malachim & Sheydim: Angels and Demons, Women in the Talmud, and Jewish Pranks. They live in Pittsburgh (Shawnee land) where they are involved with vibrant theatre and bake challah based on the weekly Torah portion (“All Challahs Are Beautiful”). Olivia serves as Program Coordinator for SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva and is a member of SVARA’s 4th Teaching Kollel Cohort.
