Remaining at home

We are dedicated to doing the most we can to assist you in remaining in your home. If there are needs or questions, we can provide some suggestions, and even some equipment installation assistance. Call 444-6333.

Case Management

If you or someone you know has run into a rough patch, and needs some help with housing, finances, or temporary health or emotional problems, you can call us and we will either help you directly or find the appropriate person or agency to assist. Call 444-6333.

Shopping

Need a ride to the market, post office, bank? Thursday in Norwich and Friday in New London are shopping days. Call  JFEC Senior and Community Services to reserve a ride at 444-6333.

Doctors Appointments and Medical Equipment

On an “as needed” basis we will help you get to your medical appointment. We also have some walkers, canes, shower chairs and other accessories that you may need for a while. Call 444-6333.

Home Delivered Kosher Meals

If you are temporarily shut in and need kosher food, we can help. Weekly deliveries of frozen kosher meals are arranged on a sliding scale fee. Call 444-6333.

Project Warm Up

The Federation is a distribution agency for state and federal monies that are alloted to United Way to meet the needs of low income citizens for  heating assistance.


Operation Cool Down

Through joint funding of the JFEC, Citizens Bank and the Frank Loomis Palmer Fund, we are offering air conditioners and fans to seniors or others who are referred to us by Emergency Rooms, Doctors, Visiting Nurse Associations (VNA), or other social service agencies.

JFEC Food Pantry

The Federation is a member of the Gemma Moran Food Pantry of the United Way of SE CT. We maintain a food pantry of soups, pasta, protein, and basic staples to handle emergencies. The hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Contact Gail at 444-6333.


Feeding the Hungry

Beth El (442-0418), Beth Jacob (886-2459), and Temple Emanu-El (443-3005) send volunteers to local soup kitchens on different days of the week. If you would like to get involved give them a call.

Furniture Redistribution

Ever since resettlement of refugees from the Former Soviet Union, the Federation has maintained a storage van filled with furniture. We accept good quality used furniture delivered to our storage van in Waterford and redistribute it to individuals or families in need. Pick ups can be arranged for a fee. Call Gail at 444-6333.
